Obituary of Anna Mae Anderson

Anna Mae Anderson passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 7, 2022. She was born May 1, 1935 in Rome, Pennsylvania, to Clarence Edgar (Ned) Peckham and Laura Josephine Ritz Peckham. Anna Mae married Arthur (Andy) Anderson on August 18, 1968 at Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Commerce Twp, MI.

Anna Mae will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a woman of deep faith, who showed her Christianity in everything she did. She opened her heart and her home to everyone, and even served as an “adopted grandma” to many. Anna Mae enjoyed socializing, attending her grandchildren’s events, shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Anna Mae was a 2nd grade teacher at Dublin Elementary in the Walled Lake School District for over 30 years, before she retired. She touched the lives of so many of her students, many of whom kept in touch with her over the years.

Anna Mae is survived by her 2 sons – David (Rhoda) Wilburn and Jay Wilburn (Liz Jensen); 5 step-children — John (Debbie) Anderson, Bonnie Larabel, David (Leslie) Anderson, Marylin (Denny) Fitzpatrick, and Dawn (Alan) Harriman; 16 grandchildren – Ken, Tommy, Tiffany, Diana, Maria, Billy, Michael, Andrea, Chris, Kyle, Kim, Dan, Nathan, Jacob, Ben, and Emma; and 19 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ned and Laura; her husband, Andy; her son-in-law, Clate Larabel; her grandson, Paul Larabel, and two great-great grandchildren.

Anna Mae’s family and friends will gather on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Crossroads Presbyterian Church, 1445 Welch Rd, Commerce, MI 48390. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hospitality House Food Pantry http://www.hhfp.org. or Crossroads Presbyterian Church.
