Obituary of Vereda Mae Clough
Vereda Mae Clough, age 97 of Oxford, Michigan, passed away on November 21, 2022. As a child of God, we know she is now resting and at peace in heaven with God and Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.
A Memorial Service will be held on March 17, 2023 at 11 am at Kitty Hawk Baptist Church, 3946 N. Croatian Hwy, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, 27949.
Vereda was born in Wilmington, Delaware, July 14, 1925 to Stanley and Frances Keen. She was one of 13 children.
Vereda was married to Edwin Knickerbocker Clough on September 20, 1947. They met on a train going back to Bob Jones University after Christmas break. They were married 62 years and had 4 children, 3 sons and 1 daughter.
Vereda was a loving wife and mother who loved God and served Him. And she loved singing, especially the old hymns of the church. Vereda was a lathe operator in a defense plant during WWII. She received a $5 award for an idea that improved the processing of parts. Vereda worked as a volunteer for the March of Dimes for 20 years, going door-to-door collecting donations. She was a long-time member of the Albemarle Craft Guild. Vereda was an excellent seamstress and she loved doing needlepoint and counted cross-stitch. And Vereda sold Avon for many years. She never made money selling Avon, but she enjoyed visiting with her customers.
Vereda is survived by son Edwin Jr. (Nick) and his spouse, Deanna, son Stephen (Steve) and his spouse Karen, daughter Alinda, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Vereda was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, her parents, 10 of her 12 siblings, her son, Stanley (Stan), and a granddaughter, Janel. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association
