A true friend is a blessing from God. To have such a friend, and keep him for most of your life is an even greater blessing.
Dan and I go back to kids in the principles office (for some sort of prank), teen years, weddings, funerals, births and deaths. Life itself.
Waiting with open arms when I got back stateside after four years service overseas. Got me right back into the music I loved prior to the military. I cannot recall all the venues and dive bars we played over the years. I just remember him always being there. Always with a joke and a smile, or a story to tell. Never a dull moment.
My world is smaller now. We would spark each others memories each time we were together. And now some are lost forever.
He never once let me or my family down. I pray he would say the same of me.
Please take time to call or visit old friends. Spend time. It is the most precious thing we have, and it is gone before we know it.
My mother, my sister, my wife Mary and our kids all send our love to Shirley.
I will miss Dan, and pray to see him again on that big stage in the sky.
