Obituary of Patricia Anne Ceton
Patricia Anne Ceton passed away on January 20, 2023, at the age of 73. Pat was born in 1949 to Anne and George Ceton in Muskegon, Michigan, and the family moved to Livonia when she was 7 years old.
Pat started working for the State of Michigan at Plymouth Center for Human Development (later to become Community Living Services), an institution for people with developmental disabilities, a couple of years after graduating from Franklin High School. As the “Mail Girl,” she sorted all the mail and then walked the entire Administrative building every day, delivering the mail and greeting staff as she went. If it was baseball season, she could easily be drawn into a discussion of the Detroit Tigers. If you should ask about her cat, Smokey, you would elicit a big smile! Former co-workers remember that great smile, positive attitude, and her cheery “Have a good day!”
Pat's health eventually started to decline and she took a disability retirement at age 50. She never turned down an invitation to go out to lunch for fish & chips or a hamburger, though!
Pat will always be remembered by co-workers as the Mail Girl with the big smile. If Heaven has a mailroom, you can bet Pat will be first in line to apply for the job!
In 2010, Pat moved into a group home in Dearborn Heights where she lived for the remainder of her life. She was extremely happy in the homey environment and loved the staff who cared for her. Pat’s friend and manager of the group home writes, “It was October 13, 2010, when I introduced myself to Ms. Pat during my first visit to the home before becoming the manager. Her first words to me were, ‘When do we eat?’ We all laughed and I told her she was my kind of girl. Ms. Pat was a quiet soul and a kind woman. We all loved her so dearly and will definitely miss her assisting us with our math problems (as she was genius with that!) and singing the Lord’s Prayer and Amazing Grace. There are so many other great things we’ll miss about her, but most of all we’ll just miss her.”
Pat is preceded in death by her mother, Anne, and her father, George. She leaves one sister, Kathy, who lives in Maine.
Pat will be interred at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park in Livonia. In lieu of flowers, please consider a monetary donation to Friends of CLS (www.comlivserv.com/friends/about-us).
