Rose Marie Fioravante

Obituary of Rose Marie Fioravante

Rose Marie (Albanese) Fioravante

Our beloved Mother, Mother-in-Law, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend passed away peacefully on March 15, 2023. Rose Marie was born March 16, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY to Giuseppe and Rosina (Vitale) Albanese. She is mother/mother in-law to Deborah (Michael White), Lauren (Tom Hurst) and Philip (Barbara). She is grandmother to Craig (Ann Bailey White), Ryan (Chris) White, Morgan (Jordan) Stine, Daniel (Marie) Hurst, Timothy (Charlene) Hurst, Emily and Annmarie Fioravante. Loving Sister of Joseph.   She is preceded in death by her loving daughter, Debbie, grandson, Craig, and brothers, Raphael, Generoso, Salvatore, as well as her sisters, Philomena and Angelina. She is great-grandmother to Jake, Madeline, Riley, Carlisle, James, Scout, Madelyn and Deborah Darby. In addition, she was preceded in death (2020) by her loving husband of 65 years, Lawrence.

Rose Marie so enjoyed being with family and friends. She had an infectious smile, a love that embraced all the goodness in the world, a compassion beyond words and an intensity to give of herself to her family and friends. A lifelong and adoring fan of Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Engelbert Humperdinck she so loved their voices and the stories each told through their wonderful songs. Ava Marie sung by Perry Como was her favorite. She spent some early years in Connecticut and her formative years in New York (Brooklyn and Elmont), four years in San Juan, Puerto Rico and a longer period in Merrick, Long Island where she and Larry raised their children. Relocating to Royal Oak when Larry was transferred with GM-Manhattan to Detroit. After a few years, they happily retired and moved to Naples, FL. While in Naples, Rose Marie took up golf – made two holes in one and also enjoyed volunteering at St. Peters Catholic Church and playing mahjong with her closest friends at the Glades Golf & Country Club.

Eventually Rose Marie relocated to Birmingham, AL to be close to her daughter, Debbie. Rose Marie lived in AL with Larry for four years eventually moving to Birmingham, MI where she lived to her passing. All who knew her had a keen appreciation and love for her. She could entertain and cook with the best of them and was an accomplished seamstress – which brought her much joy. She will be missed with all of our hearts. God Bless!

Rose Marie will be interred at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in New York – fittingly in the Ava Maria Garden beside her husband, Larry. A memorial service is being planned for later this year.
