Obituary of Mary Frances Jensen
Mary Frances Smith Jensen
11/2/25 – 5/21/23
The youngest of the six Smith siblings, she was called "Baby" until she went to kindergarten.
She was an adventurer, the first of her family to travel west, where she lived in San Diego. She also traveled extensively in Europe with girlfriends before coming home to work for the U.S. government as a civilian.
She met Bob Jensen, an Air Force pilot, truly the love of her life, while she was working in Rabat, Morocco. They returned to the States, married, and planned to settle in Charleston, but the U.S. Air Force transferred them to McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, WA, as his last assignment. After his retirement, they moved up to Seattle, where Bob opened a yacht brokerage business, and Mary Frances worked for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as an administrative assistant.
As you can imagine, she was indispensable to her department. After Bob passed away she remained in Seattle for about 12 years before returning to her hometown.
She was dearly and sincerely loved at Cranberry Park ShorePointe, the assisted living facility where she resided the last 6 years. So many workers there said, "You're Mary's niece? I LOVE Mary!!" We will all miss her generosity intelligence, curiosity, grace, kindness, and humor and feel her influence in our lives.
