Erick Stecher asked me to cut his nipples off (yes, really) and he harassed me endlessly about shaving my head. He was the first to do it over sushi back in 2008. We could put away the sushi. My ex husband was so mad he was the first to shave my head but it was a choice I never regretted.
I still have the pots and pans we cooked with together from back then. He showed up and we cooked and he left his pots and pans for me. They were among the most treasured items I could rescue from my home before became homeless in 2020.
Does something from my kitchen now live in your kitchen? Good we’re now friends. He was my friend. He kept an eye on me after my stepson passed in 2007 and texted back and forth. I’m grateful to have known him and happy to know his suffering has ended.
I’m grateful we got to video chat recently when I shaved my head again. I hope our souls cross paths again someday. He was a champion to empower women and I’m glad to have known him.
