Obituary of Lou Ann Williams

Lou Ann Hart Williams, born April 13, 1935, died September 29, 2023 in Fenton, Michigan. Preceding her in death were her husband John Burress Williams, her brother Steven Cooper Hart, and her parents, Dr. William Dawson Hart and Genevieve Ellison Hart. She is survived by her sister, Becky Hart Fox, of Syracuse, Indiana.

 

Born in Indianapolis, IN, Lou Ann graduated from Anderson High School in 1953, and DePauw University in 1957. At DePauw, she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, and she also met her beloved husband John of 50 years while at DePauw. Lou Ann and John enjoyed music, both singing with John accompanying on guitar.

 

Surviving children are Lynn Williams Cluskey (Keenan) of Brighton, MI, and John Christopher Williams (Beth) of Indianapolis, IN. Her 4 grandchildren are Jordan Williams (Ellen), Sarah Williams Kumfer (Joel), Michael Keenan Cluskey (Maddi Massa), and Patrick John Cluskey (Mayara Sanches). Her 2 great grandchildren are Laila Rose Cluskey, and Ander Francis Williams.

 

Lou Ann led an active life, always wanting to give back to others and to her community. Some of her activities included: Dunlap (Illinois) School Board member, Junior League of Peoria, IL, YWCA board president, Salvation Army Auxiliary board member, Director of Christian Education at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in Peoria, IL, member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, fitness coach at the YMCA of Franklin, Tennessee, and various Bible study groups and book clubs. Lou Ann was also a Master Gardener. In Peoria, she and John were very active in Cursillo, where they both sang during weekend retreats.

 

In lieu of flower, gifts in her memory to either her church, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (200 W. St. Paul St., Brighton, MI 48116) or Salvation Army (503 Lake St., Howell, MI 48843) would be appreciated.

 

A celebration of life is planned for April 13, 2024 on her 89th birthday in Brighton, MI at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
