Obituary of Grace Louise Holland

Grace Louise Holland, 93, of Shelby Township, Michigan, passed away January 17, 2024, peacefully in her apartment at Autumn House in Bloomfield Township. She was born to the late Albert and Adeline Kreiger, April 26, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan. Grace graduated from Detroit Lutheran High School, class of 1948. She attended various business colleges, knew shorthand, and was a Legal Secretary for Holly Carburetor. She married the late Richard G. Kiehle on March 15, 1955. They lived together in Redford, Michigan until 1972. They built their dreamhouse in Shelby Township where she lived until 1 year prior to her passing. Grace & Richard divorced in 1984 and Grace married James Holland in 1986 and remained married until her passing. Grace is survived by her husband James Holland; three children: Richard G. Kiehle II, (Kim) of Traverse City, Michigan; Gregg S. Kiehle (Charisse), of Shelby Township, Michigan; and David A. Kiehle (Rose), of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ryan Kiehle (Rachelle), Heather Olender (Scott), Jordan Bowers (Sam), Lauren Ifrim (Alex), Jacob Kiehle (Laura), Megan Messick (Jordan), and Julia Kiehle and five great-grandchildren, Anthony Kiehle, Lucas Kiehle, Harper Olender, Greyson Olender, and Eleanor Grace Messick. Grace was an absolute fashionista at a very young age. She loved to get her picture taken in her perfectly put-together outfits and model-like poses. Grace was immensely proud of her boys, and often took them snow skiing at their club Kandahar, and water skiing at the family cabin in Hale. Grace did not sit on the sidelines when it came to her boys, she loved to play tennis and golf with them. She also took them on vacations as well. Grace loved to travel. She has been on many, many cruises and has traveled to many wonderful places around the world with her husband, Jim. Grace absolutely loved her backyard which resembled a forest. She loved the wildlife and took in several stray cats. She also had her 15 minutes of fame being selected to receive the experimental Watchman device to prevent strokes. She was a very strong woman, who loved her German heritage, and taught the value of money and keeping a Spic and Span home. She watched what she ate and exercised regularly before injuring her back at age 92. She was loved and respected by all who met her; and she will be deeply missed. There will be a short viewing on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 10:00am with a memorial ceremony immediately following at 11:00am at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1800 W. Maple Road, Birmingham, MI. A private burial will take place the following day at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Michigan Humane Society.
