Obituary of Anthony Joseph Cote
Anthony Joseph Cot, 89, died Friday, September 18 at his home in Birmingham following a brief illness. He was known as Joe to his family and friends. He leaves his sons, David, Michael (Christine), Steven (Jennifer) and Thomas (Tracy); nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews, as well as his brother Al Cot. His wives Cynthia and Constance predeceased him. The son of Elmer and Irene Cot, Joe was born and raised in Detroit and was a longtime resident of Birmingham. After graduating from St. Cecilia High School, he served in the Navy, and attended the University of Michigan, where he met his wife, Cynthia. He graduated in 1948, and later received an MBA from the University of Michigan. He served proudly in the US Navy Reserve for many years. He worked for several industrial companies in the Midwest before starting his own company in the Detroit area. In his later years, he enjoyed teaching business courses at Oakland Community College, Macomb County Community College, and Phoenix University. A man of wide-ranging interests, Mr. Cot had a passion for Civil War history and visited many battlegrounds. He was also an enthusiastic sailor. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI October 9, 2015 at 2:00 PM, followed by memorial gathering at the Holly Hotel, 110 Battle Alley, Holly, MI 48442.
