Obituary of Edward J. Tollafield

Edward J. Tollafield, age 87, formerly of Clawson for 43 years and Troy for 13 years, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017, in Warren, Michigan. He was born October 23, 1929, in Arizona. Edward was the beloved husband of the late Carole L. Tollafield for 55 years, and the beloved father of Catherine L. (Peter) Benaglio, Jeffery E. Tollafield, Scott L. (Debbie) Tollafield, Susan E. (Kirk) Olep, and daughter-in-law, Pamela K. Tollafield. Dear grandfather of Thomas (Lia) Benaglio and Daniel Benaglio, Benjamin (Taylor) Tollafield, Allison Tollafield, Kimberly Tollafield, and Kyle (Krista) Tollafield, Maren Olep, and Devin Olep. He is survived by brother-in-law, William R. Johns, sister-in-law, Betty Johns, and many nieces and nephews. Edward retired from Dongan Electric Manufacturing Company. Edward's greatest joy in life was his family, he liked nothing better than having them all gathered together at the same time. He was an avid bike rider up to the age of 80 and could regularly be seen riding through the streets of Clawson. He had a passion for music, especially singing solos in church, playing the piano, and performing with the Troy Community Center's Golden Choraliers. He was a Sunday school teacher at Clawson United Methodist Church for many years, a United Methodist Church Choir Camp counselor for more than 35 years and was beloved by his many students and campers. A memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m., June 4, 2017, at Franklin Community Church 26425 Wellington Road, Franklin Visitation begins at 2:00 p.m.
