Obituary of Marie Wynn

Love Lives On Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on, And cherished memories never fade Because a love one's gone Those we love can never be more than a thought apart For as long as there is memory, They'll live on in the heart. ~ Author Unknown ~ Repast Lunch will be served at RALPH BUNCHE CO-OP 2781 E. Thomas, Officiating MARIE WYNN was born March 9, 1929 in Lake Providence, Louisiana to Carrie Griffin and George Norman. Marie and her mother moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1935 from Little Rock, Arkansas. Although Marie was an only child she was never alone. She was raised with Jean, Sister (Artis), Brother (Irvin), Sonny Boy (Alphonso) (who all preceded her in death) and Florence. These were her Sisters and Brothers. Marie attended Duffield Elementary and Miller High School. She worked at Chrysler from December 8, 1952 to 1958 when she was laid off. Marie was a well known Entrepreneur. She would often say, "yeah I use to hustle my butt off." Marie and Howard were married in 1946 and remained married for 51 years until his death in 1997. They shared in the joy of spoiling and raising their only daughter, Sheila Marie Wynn. Howard would say that his Aunt Eva Jackson (preceded her in death) and Marie were "Crazy." They would be angry with each other and not speaking; but that didn't stop Marie from calling Eva saying, "I'll be picking up the kids," And she did because Gloria, Robert and Art were her children too. At age eighty-six, Marie got up every morning at the crack of dawn, her routine was "etched in stone." She would wash up and get dressed, get her breakfast, take her meds, then take a glass of ice chips back to her room, make up her bed, dilli dalli around in her room while watching all her favorite TV talk shows. Marie watched her news everyday and always kept us informed about what was going on. She would say "I love to joke and have fun." Marie always volunteered to drive us to the store or tell us to leave the car keys because she might go out looking for us a Daddy, then laugh. She loved talking about her life on Chestnut Street and their fish market on Hasting Street. When she became a great grandmother in November 2013 (Brooklyn), that gave her something new to talk about. Marie loved her and called her "Little Mama." Marie went to sleep Friday night and awakened to God Saturday morning around 10:00AM on May 23, 2015. She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and supportive daughter Sheila Marie Wynn; one grandson Steven Wynn; one great granddaughter Brooklyn; childhood sister who beat up kids for her Florence Williams of Detroit MI; Special nephews Robert Jackson (Betty) of Detroit, MI; Arthur Jackson (Nathaniel) of Southfield MI; loving niece and nephews, Yvette Glenn, Joe Glenn, Michael Stokes all of Detroit MI; a sweet and devoted Goddaughter, Tenita (Peaches) Webb of Detroit, MI; Salliece (CeCe) McCain who took Marie as her grandmother.
