Marianne was an inspiration to myself and my daughter, Christy Richmond. She shared her love of music and life to the both of us. She really was a special person who lived a life with values that we can all inspire to. I will always have her in my heart as a person I will always admire.

This was just forwarded to me by a fellow piano student. Mrs. Newcomb is responsible for teaching me everything I know about piano playing. I was her student for many years as a child. She helped to develop my love of music, and I am proud to say that I am able to share that love now with my own children. I have had other teachers since, but none had the quietly motivating spirit that Mrs.Newcomb embodied. I will always look upon my childhood music lessons with her fondly.

When I studied piano many years ago with her, I felt like I was with someone who genuinely enjoyed teaching me, and that meant so much to me. She passed on her love of music to me and I am grateful that I studied under her. I'll never forget how much she believed in me. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Katy Wagner Brown

I think your description of Marianne was perfect. I was pleased to spend time with Marianne & Geoffrey at the Ottumwa High School reunion in 2005, a difficult time for them. Marianne had retained all the ideals and character for which she was known in high school. I'm so sorry she won't be back for the next reunion, but glad that she is at peace. God bless you all. Dear Geoffrey, We are grieving with you over Marianne's death. She was a classmate of mine at Ottumwa High School, and I remember being in her home for parties. In 1975, my husband and I purchased that home on North Elm, and I thought of her the entire time that we lived there. One day, Julie von Shrader, who had grown up 2 doors away, returned for a visit, and I invited her to explore the entire house. She had such great memories of playing in there with Marianne, she said. A transfer with Deere & Co. forced us to sadly move away. Your entire family is in our hearts and in our prayers. Marianne fought the good fight, and now she is with our Lord, free of pain. Love & Blessings. Betty Baird Johnson

I would just like to say how sorry I am for your loss. I also suffer from chronic Lyme Disease, but I can't imagine having to battle another disease along with it. I'm sure she was very brave. God Bless you and your family. Sue Gerard told me what wonderful people you are. Sincerely, Sheri Peters

Even though we were separated by many miles, Marianne and I were good friends for most most of our lives. We met in the church nursery when we were babies. Growing up we had many fun times together and continued to enjoy being together whenever we could---which was not often enough. Marianne's faith was always an inspiration to me and it was shown in everything she did. God bless you and keep you, my dear friend. And may God's blessings be showered upon your family.
