Obituary of Linda Louise Johnson
Linda Louise Johnson finally won her battle with Muscular Dystrophy on March 29, 2015 and earned her place in the Kingdom of Heaven. She was preceded in death by her father, William McKinley Johnson, Jr., her older brother, Timothy Kent, Jr., and her sister Garnetta Johnson. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Mae Kent Johnson, her brother, William Johnson III, and her sisters Valencia (Mark) Merrill and Toniya Benson. She also leaves behind several nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
Linda did not allow her struggle with MD to become an impediment to attaining her goals. She graduated from Oakland Community College with her Associate Degree. She worked as the receptionist for Timothy's business. She was also instrumental in raising three of her nephews through her guidance and willingness to share her knowledge and experiences. Linda was in the vanguard in the fight to get handicapped accessible transportation in the City of Detroit. She helped to educate the city to the plight of those who rely on public transportation and are also reliant on wheelchairs to move. As a direct result of her efforts, there are now handicapped accessible busses throughout the city. Linda will truly be missed, but those she leaves behind rest assured in the knowledge that her faith has allowed her to live again.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 4 at the R.G.& G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15251 Harper Ave., Detroit, MI 48224 from 11AM until time of service at 11:45AM.
