Oscar and Alison, I just heard. Being down here in FL my private memorial for Dolores was to get out and admire the beautiful jewelry she made for me. No one mentioned that in addition to her gardening and civic activities she was a talented jeweler with a great eye for bold, contemporary design. I am delighted to have these pieces of Dolores with me and will remember her every time I wear them. JB Dixson

I have met Dolores first in June 1980 as my host mother when I came to the United States to participate in a summer camp with her daughter Alison. I was 16 then and she was a little older than I am today. Besides her work load she managed to give me important insights into Detroit and let me participate in her life with her family and friends. Dolores and Oscars house and backyard was always filled with people from different cultures and backgrounds. We continued our friendship over the years, her family and my family. Dolores became a role model for me as a women, as she was a very intelligent, emancipated, generous and loving person. She stayed a host mother for me during all the years and I will miss her dearly. My thoughts are with Oscar and Alison. Love Johanna, Willi, Andreas, Judith, Walter and Joyce

Paskal Family, I met Dolores while I was working at Roseville Chrysler-Jeep. She was always such a pleasant person to deal with and I always looked forward to seeing her dog. I had a small world moment when I became a member of the Terrier Club of Michigan and realized Dolores was a member as well. She will definitely be missed.

Dolores will always be an inspiration to us and guide us through life by her example. She even trusted us with their beloved Sophie when traveling. We'd take pictures of Sophie driving a Jag to Atlanta and eating at the table. All to chuckles! No better friend to be had than Dolores!

I came to know Dolores, her husband Oscar and daughter Alison roughly 30 years ago. I was living in my home town of Amherstburg, Ontario then. On a train trip to Toronto I met Alison who was then on her way to study at Trent University. When I finally met Alison's family I was immediately impressed with their generosity and acceptance of someone who was otherwise a talkative stranger from across the border. Even in later times when Alison had moved away to California I was always welcome in their home on Seminole Avenue. Dolores and Oscar showed the greatest respect and interest in whatever I was doing and made me feel as if I was a member of their extended family. I continue to cherish those memories. My deepest sympathy to Oscar, Alison and her partner Suzanne in this time of grieving.

Oscar and Alison, We have great memories of our time with you and Dolores. My memories go back almost 50 years to the days when I admired Aunt Dudy for being the Berkeley radical of the family!...and that probably was a factor in my choice to attend Berkeley. Of course, neither of us were there during the radical days, but we'll not dispel that association. Fast forward 30 years it has been a great pleasure to join Dolores and Oscar as the Midwest branch of the family. Laura and I, along with Amanda, KC, Kathryn and Haley, have enjoyed our visits over the past nine years. Our trip to Detroit this past June was very special. Despite her physical struggles, Dolores was just as animated and passionate as ever, promoting the idea of co-ops in reimagining Detroit and telling us for the first time about preparing local Detroit residents for the Selma-Montgomery marches in 1965. These are great memories that we will never forget. Love, Tim and Laura Sands
