There was an audible gasp in church this past Sunday when Joan's untimely death was announced. I was blessed in this life to be a confirmation mentor with Joan which gave me the opportunity to 'meet' her. My life was not only enriched, but I made a wonderful friend - and mentor - for life. I will miss her experience, strength, honesty, drive and warm smile forever. Joan made a positive difference in all her endeavors. She was an honest, fair, capable, quiet, gentle and effective leader for all. My thoughts and prayers are with her wonderful family - and we now have another angel in heaven watching over us all.

Dear Laurie, Ellen, Becky and Steve, Our sympathies go out to you and your children on the passing of your Mom. She was an extraordinary women, who showed strength and courage in her life, especially after being widowed at such a young age. She loved you all and never wanted to be a burden to any of you. You were her pride and joy, as were her grandkids. We shared a lot of laughs during the years that she would visit us over Labor Day and we always got a kick out of her sense of humor. Our annual week-ends will never be the same. You are all in our prayers and we hope that you will feel the closeness of our Lord during this difficult time. Joan, I will miss your smiling face. God bless you, The Prices

Dear Lockhart family, our thoughts are with you in the loss of your Mother and Grandmother. We have known Joan a long time from the St. Timothy crowd and always enjoyed being with her. She was quite the gal! I will miss seeing her at the Tiger games, she always had her Tiger stuff on and with her and rooted them on. Again our deepest sympathies, Jeanette and Fred Rousseau

I'm sad to learn of Joan's death. I worked with her at MMGSC and liked her a lot. In addition to being a wealth of information, she had a positive attitude. I admire her for the way she always took the high road in what she said and did. Joan will be greatly missed by many people.

To the Lockhart family, Our sympathy to all of you in your loss of Joan, (mother and grandmother). We became acquainted with her at St. Timothy, enjoyed her wit and enthusiasm and interacted immediately. My late husband, Herman, would fondly say of her, she is a good woman..as he too served at St. Timothy. He marveled at her always being involved and always ready to serve or to help someone. Treasure the memories of your fantastic Mom, and just know that she is with you always. Listen for the times that you hear her counsel, approval and even the scoldings. May God bless each of you today as you honor her memory... and every day forward. In Christian Love, Peg Somers
