My Nana was a wonderful woman and will be greatly missed by all of us! The obituary doesn't state this, but donations may be made in her honor to www.wish.org or to michiganmiracle.org.

As a neighbor and friend, Mary was always certain to never leave me out of holiday events, dinners along the river and the sharing of many laughs. For certain, of those most significant joys in her life Leo and her family was her reason to get up every day and move forward. There is now a significant void for me and of course her family, but I know too that she is now at peace and still with us in our hearts and our minds. Mary you have left quite a legacy. Rest my friend, rest in deserved peace until we meet again. You truly found the way in life. Tim

I've known Ma for 41 years and knew right away that she was a very special person. I always called her Ma and even though I was her son-in-law, she ALWAYS made me feel like a son. She had some tough times, but was so very happy for the last 33 years, since she married Lee (Leo). She created a couple of very strongspecial daughters in Evelyn & Monica, so her legacy will continue. She is no longer in any pain. I will miss her greatly. Larry

On behalf of my husband John, daughter Stephanie, son Jimmy, and myself, I extend our sympathies to all of your family. I know what it is like to lose a mother and father (7 and 6 years respectively). The pain does lessen, and you remember the good times more! I know I haven't seen you, Evelyn, and your girls for quite awhile, but my heart goes out to all of you. I don't know why I saw the notice, I guess I was just meant to, since I didn't know your Mom's last name. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I was a tool & die maker at Hillside T&D for 15 years, where Mary was the Office Mgr. She knew my father (who got me the interview), and beginning on the day of my interview to the time I left, she took it on herself to ask me how I was doing and give me advice. We became friends, and her positive influence affected decisions that helped my career. We invited Mary & Lee to our wedding. They invited us to their house. I often golfed with Lee. Hillside played a huge role in my life, and Mary Carter was part of that experience. Sometimes you don't realize all this until reading an obituary of someone important in your life. I am grateful to have known her.
