Obituary of Glen Dean Snyder
Mr. Glen Dean Snyder, of Livonia, MI, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at the age of 87.
Glen was born to parents William Ray & Avarilla Snyder on September 29, 1929, in Detroit, MI. He was a proud "Henry Ford Trade School boy", he honorably served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict (1950-54) on the USS Monterey and was employed by Ford Motor Company as an electrician until his retirement on November 30, 1982.
In 1951, he married Jean Holden, with whom he was smitten since high school and fondly referred to as "his bride" for the remainder of his life.
Glen is survived by his daughter, Barb Barrett; his son, Bill (Christine) Snyder; his daughter-in-law Cathy (Bob) Welker; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, his life partner of the last 8 1/2 years, Flo McCarty, and several life-long friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean and his son, David.
During his retirement Glen enjoyed being a handyman at & attending Mt. Hope Church for 45 years. He was an active participant at the Livonia Senior Center and Livonia Carvers Club. He also enjoyed bowling and golf.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Hope Congregational Church, 30330 Schoolcraft Rd., Livonia, MI 48150 on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 4pm. Glen requested that his friends and family celebrate his life with a party following this service.
