King, Jack B. - Age 82 - Passed peacefully on June 8, 2008 from cardiac complications following emergency surgery. Beloved husband of 58 years to Frances Joan King Loving father of six children: Valerie (John) Frederick; Victoria King (Jim Kors); Daniel King; Douglas (Laurie) King; Donald (Diane) King and David King Beloved grandfather of 10: Kendra, Kortne and Greg Frederick; Hailee and Brenton King-Good; Leah Kors; Sara Antonette, Jaclyn and Emma King; and Ian King. Adoring great-grandfather of: Jaana Frederick and Riley Frederick Preceded in death by brother Charles R. King Also survived by many other family members and friends. A decorated Veteran of World War II with the 14th Infantry Regiment in the European Theater and a prisoner of war in Germany. A graduate of Detroit Institute of Technology, he worked in Advanced Engineering at General Motors Technical Center. Jack retired in 1986 after 39 years of service. A Mechanical Engineer with more than 15 patents granted, he was awarded the first annual "Boss Kettering Award"; GM's highest internal recognition. This award honors individuals whose outstanding inventions and innovations have demonstrated technological leadership and identifiable benefit to General Motors. Jack was a man of many interests and talents ranging from painting, photography, woodworking, gardening, journaling, exercise and classical music. His burial will be at the Great Lakes National Cemetery at 4100 Belford Road, east of Holly Road in Holly, Michigan 48442. There will be a brief dedication at the Cemetery Columbarium at 11 AM on Sunday June 22nd, followed by a memorial celebration and luncheon to be held at the home of Valerie and John Frederick.
