Obituary of Dean Palmer Chisnell
Dean P. Chisnell of Troy, aged 94, died June 30, 2014. Predeceased earlier this spring by his loving wife of 70 years, Virginia (Ginny). Survived by daughter Jeanne, son-in-law Louis, and granddaughter Jennifer, all of Massachusetts.
Dean was the last surviving child of Florence and Robert Chisnell of Dearborn. His siblings were Lee, Robert (Doug), Dorothy, Marion, Howard, and Roy. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Dean was a WWII veteran, flying as a bombardier in over 50 missions in based in Africa.
After working for Chrysler for 45 years, Dean retired in 1985. At that time, he was Manager of Photographic Services. Chrysler holds numerous patents on photographic equipment he created during the course of his career. His creative and innovative mind inspired him to invent many things during his lifetime, both practical and fanciful. In retirement, Dean took up wood carving, teaching himself and eventually winning many awards for his prize winning duck decoy's.
Dean and Ginny enjoyed travelling and in their retirement years wintered in Naples, Florida with many of their close friends.
Burial for Dean and Ginny will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery on August 11 at 1:30 with full military honors. A celebration of remembrance and life will be held at the Holly Inn immediately following the service. All are invited.
