Obituary of John P. Bell

John Bell, age 59, passed away May 30, 2008. John was born in Greenock, Scotland, the son of Matthew Bell (deceased) and Catherine Emch (deceased). John graduated from St. Martin High School, class of 1967, and served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972. He was a 37 year employee of Michigan Blue Cross / Blue Shield where he enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie of co-workers, especially Robert Thibodeau. John was the bassist for the rock band "Skyrock" with Glenn (Val) Anderson, Daniel (Shirley) Lamar and John Witbrodt. John also played with the Scott Campbell Band. John is survived by his wife, Hilda "Haiki" Hirata; daughter Jennifer Bell; grandchildren; sister Sharon Bell; step-brothers Joe (Cheryl), Robert (Kathy), Doug (Debbie), John (Donna), Mike (Jane) and Don (Donna) Emch; 25 nieces and nephews; multiple great nieces and nephews; several great great nieces and nephews; and cats, Hammer and Squeaker. John was preceded in death by special stepfather John Emch and beloved sister Catherine Bruggeman. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of John's life will be held at Gilberts Lodge, 22335 Harper Ave. (between 8 and 9 Mile Roads), St. Clair Shores, MI, on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 (the date of the 25th wedding anniversary to his beloved wife) from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. John is greatly missed.
