Obituary of Marjorie Hearst Orr
Marjorie ("Tommy") Ann Hearst Orr, died May 25, 2014, at Devonshire Retirement Village, Lapeer. She was born March 30, 1924, in Detroit, MI, to Robert and Mary (Ward) Hearst. She graduated from Cooley High School. She graduated with a Degree in English from Albion College where she met her future husband. She married Clare Orr in Detroit on September 27, 1947. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1992. She was a member of the North Branch First United Methodist Church, North Branch Order of the Eastern Star, and the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority.
She is survived by daughters: Melissa (Alan) Warchol of Gahanna, Ohio, Deborah (Roger Detzler) Rose of DeWitt, Andrea (Daniel) Orr-Porter of Texas, Jennifer (Joseph) Kaltz of Lapeer; one son, Timothy (Susan) Orr of Plymouth; nine grandchildren: Michael Rose, Stephen Rose, Andrea Rose, Laura (Eric) Thelen, Stuart (Lauren) Kaltz, Zachary Kaltz, Casey Orr, Caitlin Orr, Samuel Orr; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Marjorie R. Orr; brother-in-law Preston (Gretchen) Orr; brother-in-law Alexander Riasanovsky; several nieces and nephews; longtime childhood and dear friend, Marjorie Stoddard. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Barbara (Hearst) Riasanovsky.
Visitation 10-11 AM at the North Branch United Methodist Church followed by a memorial service at 11 AM, Saturday, June 7th Rev. Ronald Hutchinson officiating. Luncheon immediately following services.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to North Branch First United Methodist Church, Seven Ponds Nature Center or your charity of choice.
