Obituary of Fred Gene Kempster, Sr.
Fred Gene Kempster Sr, of Troy, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2014 at Beaumont Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Proud father of Fred Kempster Jr., and Carol (Mike) Maynard. Loving grandfather of five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Brother of Margot Kelly, and the late Joan Hipple, William Kempster, Charles Kempster, and Maryjane Walton.
Fred was born in Detroit on April 1, 1931. He graduated from Redford Union High School and served as Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Fred was proud to be a Master Mason and Shriner. He enjoyed a long career at Detroit Diesel Engine Division of General Motors as advertising manager for sales, marketing, and Detroit Diesel promotional activities. Fred owned American Eagle Vehicle Products, Kemco Marketing, AV Graphic Productions, Robot Letters Printing Company, Red Bell Restaurant, and Caberfae Village Motel. He was extremely creative, an idea man, an inventor, and he held several patents on products; his most recent is the AEVP Air Foil Wing. His activities were varied with boating, skiing, building houses, real estate ventures, and traveling. He often attended his granddaughter's soccer games, lacrosse games, and school musicals. Fred's positive attitude, inquisitive mind, and adventurous energy will be missed by his family and friends.
A celebration of Fred's life will be held at a later date.
