I met Jim over 30 years ago in Houston. Over the years we remained friends. He usually called every few months. Jim was a very intelligent, talented, and respected engineer here in Houston. In his work he combined his gifts with high practice standards. I recall him saying that ideally work should produce tangible results and positively impact the community at large. His work did just that. He played a significant role in the creation of some of Houston's most prestigious buildings. An example is the beautiful Omni Hotel on Riverway Drive. I believe he was the project manager when this hotel was constructed. One evening, shortly after it opened, Jim gave me a tour of the Omni. When I told him I was amazed and impressed, he was only amused. Often Jim was seeking Peace. Now he has the Peace he so bravely sought. God Bless and My Deepest Sympathy, Betty Pieper
