Obituary of Thomas Ervin Kienbaum
Thomas E. Kienbaum, 81.
Beloved husband and father Thomas "Thom" E. Kienbaum died October 5th, 2013, at home with his family in Southfield, MI.
Born May 16 1932, Thom was the first child of Ervin and Jenny.
Married in June 29 1957, to the late Patricia Pemberton Kienbaum he is the dear father of Kathleen (Dave), Thomas (Dianne), and Stephen (Careen). He was also the loving grandfather of Leland (Sara), Conor, Leah, Abigail, Erik (US Navy Hull Tech 2), Ian. He is survived by his brother Dick Kienbaum of Portage, MI (Betty).
Mr. Kienbaum served on the USS Oak Hill (LSD-7) during the Korean War and managed the School Employees Credit Union, which was co-founded by his father, Ervin Kienbaum. He decided to explore a second career in elementary education until his retirement. His final years were spent travelling the world, including Paris, London, Egypt and South America with his bride and cheering on the Detroit Tigers, Lions, U of M Wolverines, and if there was no other team was playing, MSU Spartans. Memorial services are planned for summer 2014.
