As my 8th grade football coach Mr. Marentette was the first coach to tell me I had ability that I wasn't using fully and pushed me to reach my potential. Between Mr. Marentette, Mr. Lindensmith, Mr. Ward, Mr. Gardiner, Mr. Cooper, Mr VanOvermeer, Mr. Pringle, Mr. Motz, and the rest of that great teaching staff at Grant Jr. High School, I got the foundation of an education that turned the son of two tenth grade drop-outs (who were great parents but didn't know how many doors an education opened)into a future teacher, coach, attorney, human resources director, superintendent and college professor. I only hope that someday the kids that I have taught and coached remember the valuable lessons I learned from George Marentette and passed forward to unseen future generations. He was an outstanding man.
