Brian wasn't the most talented basketball player on our intramural team at Georgetown, but damn it if he wasn't the most competetive. I remember him as a feisty guy who always put forth his best effort. He wanted to beat you (basketball and golf) but was always gracious win or lose. Brian was a guy just full of life, with a good sense of humor - including laughing at himself when the occasion merited it.

To Brian's wife, Sandy, and his family I had the pleasure of getting to know Brian over the past 5 months. As a new employee to the Fiduciary Unit, I found him to be very helpful whenever I went to him for advice. Ill always remember his quick wit and his morning greetings to me in Spanish, which is my native language. I enjoyed our exchanges as they were wonderful refreshers for me. We were blessed with Brians presence. Please know that he was appreciated and loved and will be greatly missed. Accept my condolences and thoughts for you and your family.

In March, on one of my hospital visits with Brian, he shared with me the fact that on Nov, 3rd 2002 he got a hole in one. For a golfer, it doesn't get any better. What a life! Great Marriage, Brilliant career, three amazing daughters, loving grandkids, loyal family, true friends, steady faith, lucky winner, etc. What a ride! I plan to keep in close touch with Brian's spirit as we support Sandy in her next chapter. You've been a great brother in recovery Bri ! Love, Moni

To Brian's wife Sandy, and family. It has been great working at the Department of Veterans Affairs along with Brian as Legal Instruments Examiners in Fiduciary. Brian preceded me in Fiduciary by six months, and as a new employee, I found him to be very helpful when I went to him for advice regarding handling a case. Ill always remember him his quick wit and ability to lighten up some challenging moments in Fiduciary. He shared his interesting stories about his travels and his love for golf. His Spanish was much better than mine. From time to time he would begin an exchange of conversation in Spanish that would make for a wonderful refresher for me. He was warm and approachable and he added positive energy to Fiduciary. God blessed us with Brians presence. Please know that he was appreciated and loved and he will be missed.

San, Steph, Chris and Ralph, In the past weeks that we muddled through the details and technicalities of dying and preparing for the celebration of Brians life, I became part of the DeFour Family. I shared your worry, sorrow, joy, memories and yes...laughter oh, and food! I have many wonder memories of Brian-chasing lizards with Claire and Shelby, fishing with Kelly and hanging with me and Sandy on the beach here in FL. Now I have new memories of time with his daughters and brother (and their families). Thank you for those! Chris, celebrate that last gift your Dad gave you! My thoughts and prayers will be with you, especially Friday. Love you all, Sandy's sis

Oh Sandy... My heart bleeds for you.... I know there are no real words that can take away the pain you are feeling right now. Just know that you are in my heart and prayers and I can relate to what you are going through. One so dear to our heart where there is no understanding why they are gone and life just seems so empty, but that pain lessens, but I can say it doesn't really go, but becomes more managable. I love you and hope that you know if you need to talk or anything, just let me know. XOXO

To know Brian was to love him. I had that privilege for the last decade. His intelligence, stories, wit and kindness made him unique in this world. The last time I spoke with him was about his beloved wife Sandy's medical troubles. He made me laugh the way he briefed me on the situation. My concern went away because I knew he was there taking care of her. He loved her very much. I got to see that and be a part of their lives in Florida. My sympathy to his entire family for this huge loss.
