Obituary of Jack Manko

Jack Manko, of St. Clair Shores, passed away February 6, 2019, two weeks after celebrating his 100th birthday. He was born January 22, 1919 in Detroit, Michigan to Paul and Irene Manko. Upon his return from World War II, he married the late Margaret Inglis in 1946. They moved to St. Clair Shores, raising three children. He had a successful career with the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 1980. He continued in a tax consulting private practice until his eyesight began to fail at the age of 93. Jack was a long time member of the Jefferson Masonic Lodge, serving as treasurer for many years. He was also active in the Valley of Detroit Scottish Rite and the Shriners. Jack loved fishing, hunting, gardening, the DSO, opera, his family, friends and God. He is survived by his children Jessica Manko, Debbie Castelli (Ralph), and Diane Manko-Cliff, along with grandchildren Craig (Shannon), Tim (Julie), Paul (Mechelle), Jem and Joshua. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren that he adored, Delilah, Maren, Atticus, Quinn, Evangeline and Aria, and a slew of nieces, nephews and in-laws. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 17, 2019 beginning at 1 pm until the 2 p.m. Memorial Service at St. Michaels Episcopal Church, 20475 Sunningdale Park, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Michaels Episcopal Church.
