I did not have the opportunity to get acquainted with Christa but had the honor of meeting her better half. Thank you for welcoming me into your home. It was easy to feel your love for each other and I am so sorry for your loss. Bless your family and know you are in my thoughts.

If I could tell grandma and grandpa anything it would be to say thanks for all of the wonderful memories. Family gatherings with love, laughter and the best Italian food in the world. I can now say that I have been to Italy, and have had a lasagna dinner there, but it did not compare to grandma's. Grandma took the best part of Italian cooking and improved upon it to make the richest and best spaghetti sauce I have ever tasted )) Along with that were all of the other delicious meals, dishes, and desserts she perfected which were all made to perfection and with lots of love!. A patriot, a lover of music, great food (including those sweets), and all things family! There are so many other wonderful things to say about grandma, and the hard work and dedication she devoted to so many, who were lucky to have her for a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother! I know you are at peace and in a better place now. You will always be loved and remembered by so many. Thanks for everything and rest in peace!!

Life was not easy for Grandma. Surviving through two of history's most oppressive dictatorships only to start life anew in a far away land requires great sacrifice, and exceptional persistence. I am convinced that far fewer people today would persevere through such tribulations, and even fewer would remain in such good spirits throughout the course of their lives. Grandma was simply the kindest soul I have ever met, a gift to the world, and I am so happy to have shared so many memories with her. She will live on in my heart and mind.

I have so many found memories of time spent with grandma. These include going to the St. Clair Shores beach to run in the water fountains, walk in the sand and swim. We would go there and watch the waves crash onto the shore. She always loved nature and talking about nature. She was always a kind and caring person, and what a cook! Food was always great at Grandma and Grandpas, including the home made spaghetti, pasta salads, giant turkeys for Thanksgiving, and many great vegetables right out of her and Grandpa's garden. I will always remember how important it is to be kind and caring towards others because of how special Grandma made me feel every time I visited her and Grandpa! I Will always love and remember you Grandma!

Growing up in Germany during WWII, my mom knew deprivation and sacrifice. So she learned to make do. As a mother she continued to forgo her own needs for her children, and we never wanted for anything important. She taught by example that to be a parent meant to give of yourself for your children and that to be a person meant to give of yourself to other people. Those who knew her are deeply saddened by her loss. But we take comfort that she was with us long enough to impart that wisdom.

I feel very fortunate to have such a fun and caring grandma, and I cherish my memories of her wonderful cooking and beautifully tended gardens. She had a sharp wit and excellent sense of humor that I could appreciate even at an early age. I was also moved by her stories of growing up during World War II and of the challenges she overcame as an immigrant. Several years ago, I had the opportunity to visit her family’s beautiful mansion in Zeulenroda, Germany that was lost to them during the war. Despite the loss of privilege and safety, she built a new life in a new country with her husband and four children. Her rejection of self-pity in the face of great adversity remains an inspiration to me, and I hope to always follow her example of strength and optimism.

Grandma Chris had a positivity and charm that outlasted anything. I'll never forget the love and kindness she had in her heart, or all the times she did so many things to make me feel special. Whether it was getting up before daylight to cook for us, or letting us sneak in her bedroom to take candies from her nightstand, the smallest things were made special by her remarkable spirit and sense of humor. There are countless memories of her and her character that will always have a lasting impact on who I am, and I'll cherish my time spent with her for a lifetime. She was truly a blessing to everyone who knew her.
