Obituary of John Maceo Teamer
John Maceo Teamer
(September 8, 1942 - September 25, 2023)
John Maceo Teamer, aka “Bubba” (81) was born on September 8, 1942 in Ecorse, Michigan to the late Richmond Teamer and Georgia Mae Teamer. God took Johns’ hand and lead him home on Monday, September 25, 2023.
John graduated in 1960 from Northwestern High School in Detroit. While at Northwestern he joined the ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corp). His leadership skills advanced him to the rank of Major which allowed him to be one of few chosen cadets to meet with the visiting President of the United States, Dwight Eisenhower. John joined the US Army and received an honorable discharge after serving 3 years in Germany. While in Germany, he married his high school girlfriend Lois Henderson. From this marriage, they had two sons: John Wilhelm and Terrance. In 1970, John met his future second wife, Tommie Lydia Lowe, who had moved to Detroit from Lima, Ohio. They married in 1974 and shared 49 blessed years of marriage until God called John home.
John’s career interest was in Mechanical Engineering. His talent caused him to excel in every task he was assigned. He was well known throughout the Detroit area as an excellent machine tool engineer. After 42 years, he retired from Modern Engineering while he was contracted out to Guardian Industries.
John loved sports, doing crossword puzzles, watching old movies and the history channel. But his heart was for golf. John was an avid golfer who would be on a golf course every day, if possible. On one of his local outings at Hickory Creek Golf Course (date unknown), he achieved the golfers’ dream: “The Hole-in-One”. He was so proud. A golf partner made an award plaque to honor the occasion.
John is preceded in death by his father, Richmond; his mother, Georgia Mae; 2 sisters, Annie Lou and Ruth; and brother, William. He leaves to rejoice in his memory his devoted and loving wife, Tommie Lydia; sisters, Marie and Marion; and brother, Walter (Mammie); sons: John Wilhelm (Angela) and Terrance; grandchildren: Juwan (Arriayne), Jenai, Portia and Teonna; great-grandchildren: Na’Vaya, Damond, Jr. and Orion; nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
ASHES IN THE WIND”
…Don’t lay my body in the earth, and cover it with sod;
If I’m anywhere at all, I’m in the heart of God.
And in your heart, remembering the moments that we shared,
Like ashes scattered in the wind, I’m with you everywhere,
And so today you will dig no grave, and raise no crumbling stone;
You will never have to walk away and leave me here alone.
Instead, you will come remembering as family, friends and kin;
And keep me in your hearts, as my ashes face the wind.
