Tony was well liked by all of the guys in the neighborhood on Shady Lane. Tony was four(4) years older, yet never the bully. Tony was more like the caring older brother who watched over the little guys protecting us and and helping us along. Yes, lots of baseball and other sports were played in the neighborhood and coaching came natural to Tony. Some good memories going to the Savonas house to play with the latest litter of beagle pups. And good memories of the many neighborhood parties and events with Lee, Leonard and the Savona Family. The laughs and smiles came easy with Tony even as the years went by and the get togethers became less and less frequent. Childhood bonds made by the Shady Lane Gang endured. Tony will be missed.

As one of the Shady Lane Gang gals, I am saddened by your loss. Playing 4 square and softball, exploring new subdivisions while they were being built, and making rafts after the rains on the soon to be built expressway under the Shady Lane bridge, it was so much fun hanging out with Tony and the rest of the S. L. Gang both in our youth and then as teenagers, what fun we had. Mr. and Mrs. Savona were like second parents to all of us, everyone looked after each other. Mrs. Savona, Josie and Mary Joe, my thoughts and prayers are with you and Tony and Deborah's children; again, so sorry for your huge loss.

Tony will be missed as I knew him as a youngster growing up in SCS. Tony would always let me play baseball during the summers with the older guys and never made me feel like I was inferior or not good enough to play. I personally will never forget Tony and attribute a lot of the confidence I have now to him. Thank-You Tony, you will be missed Frank DeMartino
