Hi, Mike, Shirley z. here. John made it a long time. Did you know Tony died about 25 years ago when he was less than 60 years old. Sometimes I remember the old days on Palmer Street. And the dirt in the back yard.

Monica, and Family,Sorry for your loss, I am Shirley Zielinski's son, Jerry. We came to your house in 1972!!I'll always remember 'Uncle John' taking me to a bunch of Tiger games while we were there, he even made sure i got to sit next to the Georgia Peach Queen, who happened to be attending one of the games. I remember that was a good vacation and how great you folks all treated us.My Aunt Delphine Fairbanks (Anthony Zielinski's sister) notified me of John's passing. My Wife and i visited her last fall, and we talked of you guys and our trip in '72'Take Care,Jerry Zielinsk

I love when my mother tells stories of her childhood. Connie was a tomboy and a bit of a troublemaker but she looked up to her big brother and it seemed like he always had her back when they were kids. She often says, when we lived on Medbury, Johnny and I owned the skating rink at the park next door. When I was growing up, Uncle John and his family were in and out of lives. When we were fortunate enough to see him, I was always excited! Much like the skating rink years earlier, when my uncle was in a room, he owned it. And when he hugged you, you knew you were hugged!!I remember when Uncle Ted died so suddenly and so young...our family was pretty shaken up. There was a houseful of people at Aunt Nana's after the funeral and Uncle John was sent to the store to buy beer. He came back with one 6-pack of black and white generically labeled BEER...his sisters went crazy! He said, You told me to buy 'BEER'. Of course, there was also a case of the good stuff in the car, but by then he had broken the tension and gotten everyone laughing. When my own father passed away, it was my Uncle John walking my inconsolable mother down the aisle at church and his shoulder she leaned her head on.You will be missed dear uncle. Scoot over Grandma, Dziadzia, Uncle Ted, Dad, Herman and Eileen...you need to add another chair to the family card table in heaven. xoxo

Monica, I'm so sorry to hear about John's passing. I enjoyed working with John as well as socializing with both of you. I hope John is together with Kenny, Jack Haase and Larry Hessen and they're rehashing their Free Press days and sports. Take care. Kathy Krell
